- 1986 Noble and Cooley Classic SS Solid 1 PLY SHELLS Maple Drum Set in Winston-Salem, North Carolina For Sale

Upon the success of the classic ss solid maple snare drum first introduced in xxxx, Noble and Cooley announced that they would start producing full drumsets in very limited quantity. The shells would be made of a single piece of wood(maple) just like their snare drums. Probably the most famous drums of this shell type were the Slingerland Radio King snare drums along with Leedy as well.
Most drumshells are made from multiple layers of wood veneer(plywood) This drum set was produced in xxxx and was one of only 10 sets made! That makes this not only a one of a kind drumset but an extremely RARE one as well.
The timbre and tone of these drums is second to none in the entire world. They are simply among the greatest drumsets EVER made. All the drums are fitted with RIMS alloy suspension mounts. The bass drum is custom fitted with a RIMS mount made by Gary Gauger himself. The bass drum floats in mid air just enough to attach the bass pedal to the hoop of the drum. There are absolutely NO MOUNTING holes drilled in any of the shells of the drums.
The drum sizes are 8x8, 8x10, 9x12, 10x13, 12x14 mounted toms. 16x20 bass drum and a 7x14 snare drum. All the drums are of a one piece steam bent solid maple shell with the exception of the bass drum which is 7 ply. Noble and Cooley told me they could not find a suitable piece of wood large enough to bend a 20" shell. The hardware(tom tom holders and stands) is Ludwig Modular series. The extremely low mass solid brass tube lugs attach to the shell at a very small point to maximize shell vibration.
This is a very rare, one of a kind drumset that comes along maybe once in a lifetime. That is for sure!
